PGNH endorses reelection of Scott Bach to the NRA Board of Directors

[Posted Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at 11:40 a.m.] The following is adapted from an article posted at http://www.ammoland.com/2012/01/24/scott-l-bach-good-nra-leadership/ :

“Freedom rests on our shoulders — let’s stand proud and defend it together” says three-term NRA Board member Scott Bach. “If all we have left to muster is sheer force of will and bold intention, we will always find a way to defend freedom – always.”

Two handgun raffle winners drawn

[Posted Sunday, January 15, 2012, at 10:00 p.m.]  A year ago, we announced the members-only raffles of two handguns: a Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm pistol, and a Taurus Protector .38 Spl. revolver.  (See the article at http://pgnh.org/two_raffle_winners_also_new_raffles_starting_january_2011 .)  This weekend, at the Manchester gun show, the winners of both these handguns were drawn.  The Kel-Tec 9mm pistol was won by the Honorable Richard E. "Stretch" Kennedy of Hopkinton, an Advisor of PGNH; the Taurus .38 Spl. revolver was won by a PGNH member in Atkinson.  (That member's name is not being released, as a confidentiality measure; our bylaws prohibit revealing membership names without permission.)  We design the raffles to be generous, with a good chance of winning, as a membership benefit.  We will announce the next two members-only raffles shortly.

Change to PGNH Board of Directors

[Posted Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at 11:30 a.m.]  Pro-Gun New Hampshire is proud to announce the appointment of State Representative Ken Kreis as one of our five corporate directors.  Formerly one of six Senior Advisors to PGNH, he replaces Bob Pagano, who has been occupied with his gun-brokering business, Tango Yankee, LLC (web: www.tangoyankee.com), and who has graciously stepped down to become a Senior Advisor.

Ken Kreis, the former President of the New Hampshire Wildlife Federation, is an avid sportsman and firearms enthusiast who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to his position as a member of the NH House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee, which oversees state firearms legislation.  Ken introduced and defended the first Constitutional Carry bill, Jenn Coffey's HB330, to the floor of the House.  He served as the House chair of the Committee of Conference (between House and Senate) on the 2011 bill SB88, which improved firearms rights.  Most impressively, he exposed the machinations of state senator David Boutin that kept Constitutional Carry out of SB88, and agreed to publish his report, over his signature, on our website.  (See http://pgnh.org/rumor_confirmed_why_senator_boutin_killed_constitutional_carry .)  Ken is the owner of Capitol Copy, a successful full-service copy and printing business located across the street from the State House (web: www.capitolcopy.com).  A good writer and an expert in typesetting software, he has edited and published newsletters for several pro-gun organizations.

Nappen's Deadly Force Basics

Cavalry Scout Jamie J. Kiklis and the Need for National Right to Carry Reciprocity

by Evan F. Nappen, Esq.

[Posted Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 12:40 p.m.]  Cavalry Scout Jamie J. Kiklis was assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Tal Afar, Iraq, during June of 2005.

Part of the mission was to take a terrorist stronghold. While engaging the enemy in the pursuit of the objective, Kiklis was hit twice from enemy rounds fired from a terrorist’s AK-47. One bullet struck him in the abdomen and the other struck him in the thigh. Kiklis then crawled into an uncleared room and proceeded to conduct did his own medical treatment and “pulled security” with his Beretta 92 9mm pistol. While he was bleeding and trying to ignore the excruciating pain, his fellow soldiers “put the Bradley through the building,” creating a potential escape route. He gathered all his strength and hopped out on one foot, while heavy enemy fire of bullets and grenades came in from everywhere.

Recently gun dealers were sent a large manila envelope from the NH Firearms Safety Coalition.  The packet contained a number of items with a disturbing anti-gun-rights message, including a full color poster proclaiming:

SUICIDES IN NH
far outnumber homicides

FIREARMS ARE THE LEADING METHOD

ATTEMPTS WITH A GUN ARE MORE DEADLY
than attempts with other methods

PGNH counsel wins criminal gun case

[Posted Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at 10:00 a.m.]  Yesterday in Grafton Superior Court, PGNH General Counsel Evan F. Nappen won a criminal jury trial (State v. Donegan) in which his client had been charged with criminal threatening with a firearm and reckless conduct with a firearm. A "not guilty" verdict on all counts was rendered by the jury. The case involved charges that Mr. Donegan had “pointed” a handgun at an occupied vehicle.

Boycott the Toys R Us store in Nashua

[Posted Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at 9:10 p.m.]  We have been informed that the Toys R Us store in Nashua has a large sign at the entrance stating that "possession of firearms is prohibited on these premises."

Such prejudiced, ignorant prohibitions are unfair to women, seniors, and the handicapped -- the people most disadvantaged by being denied their right to self-defense.  We call for a boycott of this store.

Close the Car Show Loophole!

By Evan F. Nappen, Esq.

[Posted Monday, February 14, 2011, at 6:40 p.m.]  At car shows and swaps throughout the United States, cars are sold in private sales with no dealer being involved.  Car shows at which cars are exhibited or offered for sale or exchange provide a convenient and centralized commercial location where criminals and other wrongdoers obtain cars without credit background checks and without records that enable car tracing.

We all know that cars kill and that they are one of the biggest killers in the US.  Cars cause accidents and facilitate crimes. Cars even cause mass murder and mayhem (like intentionally driving into a crowd). Cars are a menace that must be tightly controlled.

Count your blessings, and don't let New Hampshire get as bad as New Jersey

[Posted Sunday, February 13, 2011, at 1:15 p.m.]  Attorney Evan Nappen, General Counsel for Pro-Gun New Hampshire, practices law in both New Hampshire (Concord office: tel. 223-0001) and New Jersey.  His op-ed article, below, was just published in five Gannet newspapers in New Jersey.

DOES NEW JERSEY NEED EVEN TIGHTER GUN CONTROL?  Abusive gun laws make felons of state's law-abiding citizens

New Jersey's gun laws are draconian, irrational, backward thinking and politically motivated. They turn honest citizens into criminals and make the streets safe for violent offenders who rape, rob and kill the disarmed.

New Jersey's gun laws are not just absurdly restrictive, but the state is recognized nationwide as a "Beacon of Stupidity" when it comes to gun laws. Here are 12 shining examples:
